Jetta's First Day of Dance

Jetta's world became a princess fairy tale for her this week.  She started her first dance class.  We debated whether or not to sign her up this year or wait another year since it is another expense to add to the budget.  I can say it is the best money we have spent for Jetta.  She was in her element and just delighted.  Her teacher was so nice and laid back.  They don't wear dance shoes and there is no strict dress code.  It is simply a place where Jetta gets to show up and feel like a princess.  Other girls in her class frequently came in dress up princess costumes to practice each week.  It was so laid back and children friendly.  There was no pressure.  I was so happy with their program.  Jetta learned that dancing is fun and feels like play.  I was so glad my friend stopped me in the parking lot at a different dance studio when I was walking in to sign Jetta up and told me to reconsider going to this dance studio instead because of their teaching styles.  I want Jetta to gain confidence and learn to love and appreciate her body and what it can do.  I never want her to feel she doesn't measure up or she has to fit a certain mode.  I just want her to be herself and find joy in being who she wants to be.... and if that means she wants to go to dance looking like Aurora one week and Snow White the next....it's perfect that she can because it lets her be free and be a kid expressing herself.
